Kolkata's iconic Brigade Parade Ground witnessed a historic moment as it set a world record with more than 100,000 participants coming together for the 'Lokkho Kanthe Gita Path' event. Shankaracharya Sadanand Saraswati of Dwarka Peeth graced the occasion, commencing with a song by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Organized jointly by various cultural organizations, the gathering included 60,000 women simultaneously blowing conch shells, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn't attend, he praised the initiative in a letter, emphasizing the cultural richness and pluralism embedded in the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. However, the ruling Trinamool Congress alleged political motives with an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
