Telangana CM Unveils Comprehensive Welfare Package for Gig Workers

In a significant move, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has introduced a robust support system for cab drivers, food delivery personnel, and auto drivers. Announcing a Rs 5 lakh accidental policy and medical coverage up to Rs 10 lakh under the 'Rajiv Arogyasri' scheme, the CM aims to enhance the safety net for these essential workers.

In a compassionate gesture, CM Reddy has directed officials to provide Rs 2 lakh financial assistance to the family of a Swiggy delivery boy who tragically lost his life while on duty. The incident involved a fatal fall from a building after being chased by a dog.

Emphasizing the government's commitment to accountability, the CM warned of stringent action against any major organization failing to adhere to fair practices. This initiative underscores the state's dedication to the well-being of its workforce and signals a proactive approach to address challenges faced by gig workers.
